Live in the Lobby

ENJOY A NIGHT OF MUSIC AND FUN WITH LIVE IN THE LOBBY

Opera House Arts invites community members to lend their voices to this new tradition.

STONINGTON, MAINE— Whether you are in the mood to perform, to listen to your neighbors’ talents or simply to take in the view of the beautiful Stonington harbor under the stars, Opera House Arts’ new year-round series, Live in the Lobby, offers something for everyone. This monthly offering will begin on Wednesday, November 18 at 6 p.m., and will be hosted by Kit Loekle, Frank Gotwals, Richard Buxton and Renee Sewall.

“With our beautiful lobby as a gathering space, we’re looking forward to deepening our role as a place where the community can come and be at home with us,” says Producing Artistic Director Meg Taintor. “Our new Live in the Lobby series is a monthly opportunity to gather and share in music, poetry and conversation together. Plus, we’ll have Pam’s wonderful flatbread pizzas available, and a variety of soups, so folks can come early and make an evening of it!”

This series began during the 2015 Summer Season with an evening hosted by NYC-based actress and singer/songwriter Rebecca Hart, who also starred in Opera House Arts’ production of The Seagull. Following Hart’s performance, members of and visitors to the Deer Isle-Stonington community took the mic to offer their own favorite songs. Opera House Arts looks forward to building on this tradition and hopes to hear the many voices of its neighbors filling the new lobby.

This is a free event. There are no reservations necessary.

In addition to Live in the Lobby, Opera House Arts stays busy throughout the winter with first run films each weekend, an AltMovie once a month and other live performances in the form of Community Staged Readings and informal concerts.

Coming up next is A Child’s Christmas in Wales on Saturday, December 12 at 4pm and a Community Staged Reading of Den LeFranc’s The Big Meal on December 16-17, at 7pm. For more information about year round programming, please visit www.operahousearts.org or call 207-367-2788.
