MEG TAINTOR is a Boston-based director, producer, actor, teacher, and community organizer. She currently directs a component of the Programming and Engagement team at ArtsEmerson: The World on Stage, working closely with Artistic Director David Dower. Founded in 2010 by Rob Orchard, ArtsEmerson is the professional presenting and producing program, “showcasing the world on stage and screen,” affiliated with downtown Boston’s Emerson College. ArtsEmerson seeks to redefine the relationship between artist and audience, and the impact of theater on community. For nine years, Taintor served as the Artistic Director for Whistler in the Dark Theatre, a small ensemble company. She is a co-founder of the Small Theatre Alliance of Boston, where she served as the inaugural President of the Board, and has also served on the Board at StageSource, the theater service organization of Boston. She believes passionately in the necessity for strong communities of local artists supporting and challenging themselves to do better and more exciting work, creating interactive exchanges that help to realize the full potential of the arts in the life and character of their communities.
“Meg’s strength as a working theater artist deeply dedicated to, and with a proven track record for, community engagement and performance excellence makes her a perfect fit for OHA’s mission,” said Richard Howe, chair of the board’s Search Committee and board member emeritus.
