Here’s the latest from Stonington Farmers Market vendor El El Frijoles Restaurant:
Yup, it’s true. We really are opening another restaurant!
We are super excited to be bringing traditional, Downeast, dock-side take-out to the shores of the Bagaduce river. While it may take a little vision (or a healthy dose of optimism) to see it right now, come Memorial day we’ll open Dudley’s Refresher on the Castine Town dock (in the shadow of the State Ship!) and we’ll be serving our take on Maine’s most iconic cuisine. Daily cheffing duties will be ably handled by our long-time primary Frijolean Kara vanEmmerik and her staff of highly trained culinary zealots. We’ll be offering up Fish Tacos, Lobster Rolls, a Proper Chippy (that’s fish and chips, guv, with mushy peas!) a few dogs loaded with delicious Morse’s sauerkraut and the best burgers we can come up with. We are holding tightly to our conviction that the best food comes from close by, so we’ll be using locally grown, sourced or produced ingredients wherever we can, and Kara will be whipping up most of it from scratch. And yes, we’ll be serving Morton’s Moo ice cream as well!
All we need now is a building, some equipment to put into the building, some people to work with that equipment and some temperatures above freezing to make it all work out. Cross your fingers for us!
