“Live! For $5” Wednesdays Starts July 23rd

If you were standing at line at the Stonington Farmers Market this Friday from 10AM to Noon you probably overheard the buzz being generated by the Opera House Arts with their “Live! For $5” series on Wednesday nights.

OHA presents the annual six week-long “Live! For $5” Wednesday night series of hour long, live performances so that all family members, regardless of age, can enjoy live theater for the same price as a movie. Each 45-minute performance is followed by a Talk Back session with the artists.

Alison Chase Performance kicks off the season on July 23. Coming next in Live for $5: LAUGHING COUPLE Native American storytellers (July 30); magician NORMAN NG (August 6); Acadian and world music with 10 Strings and a Goatskin (August 20); and the reprise of a favorite community playreading, David Mamet’sTHE DUCK VARIATIONS featuring Judith Jerome and Cherie Mason (August 27).

$5 tickets for all LIVE! For $5 Wednesday night performances are available only at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m. Live! for $5 was founded in collaboration with Maia Aprahamian and the Whitman Family, and is made possible with the generous support of the Whitman Family Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of additional individuals, Opera House Arts has been able to extend its popular Island Students Free program to include Live for $5 performances as well as students from Brooklin and Sedgwick.
