Our Stonington Farmers Market vendor Opera House Arts (OHA) is pleased to host film director Jaime Hook and to present a special, one night only screening of his Maine-made feature film, Vacationland, at its Burnt Cove Church facility on Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. Actors from the film will also be present at the screening and Talk Back.
Vacationland premiered at the Maine International Film Festival in 2012. The feature length drama tells the story of a failed family reunion in the great North Woods of Maine, at which the only people who show up are those who didn’t know the reunion was cancelled. Vacationland features 73-year-old Oscar nominee and Golden Globe Award winner Karen Black, who starred alongside Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces and again in 1974’s award winning version of The Great Gatsby. She became a cult classic with her role in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean in 1982.
Director Jaime Hook is also the artistic director of the Denmark, ME Arts Center, where Vacationland was primarily shot in 2011. He was the founding director of the Northwest Film Forum and past director of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival.
Tickets are $8 and available only at the door of Burnt Cove Church the night of the performance.
