Why the Ball Got Dropped

Dear Frendors,

Some of you already know and the rest of you may be wondering what happened to our Stonington Farmers Market website this winter. The webmaster’s concept has always been to create a dynamic site by posting your vendor newsworthy items continuously even in the off season. My lifemate Scott and I left Maine on October 6th for our winter home in NC. Seven days later we discovered he had inoperable stomach cancer with a prognosis of 2-4 months. Two weeks after that we departed for India. Those of you that know Scott from the market may not know that he once lived for a year in India, traveled there repeatedly throughout his life, and wanted to go back to spend his remaining time there…where we still are. If you are interested you can read our story on the going to goa blog.

I have not had the time, energy or the computer necessary to keep up with the best farmers market in Maine! site. Please accept my apologies for not having a contingency plan in place with a co-webmaster that could share the responsibility. If anyone would like to volunteer now for that position I could probably walk you through the wordpress blogging application. Or, we can wait until I return to Maine. However, I don’t know yet when that will be. It’s been a heartfelt journey of ups n downs but currently Scott is surprising even his oncology doctors in NC and India with his indomitable spirit and joie de vivre. Scott will not see Maine or our many friends there again…but we miss you and want you to know that we both think about you and Stonington every single day with love.

If anyone has interest in writing and posting to the website contact me katyallgeyer@mac.com. I will be able to do some limited posting from here on out but even when I return It would probably be a good idea to bring some others on board. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Katy Allgeyer
Webmaster
