Even though the Stonington Farmers Market is on winter hiatus, many of our vendors never stop doing what they do best. Case in point: Opera House Arts in Stonington. “Welcome Home Hamlet” – A “darkly hilarious” cabaret version of one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies comes to Stonington
Extending its acclaimed Shakespeare in Stonington series of original, professional productions of the Bard’s classics, Opera House Arts (OHA) is thrilled to present “Welcome Home, Hamlet,” a darkly hilarious cabaret version of the most famous work in Western literature, one night only on Saturday, November 5 at 7 p.m. Audiences will be delighted to see Shakespeare in Stonington favorites Stephanie Dodd and Rachel Murdy (writers), along with Peter Lettre and Justin Badger, return from New York City and appearances at the Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub to perform this wild evening of song and antics inspired by the legendary tale. “Welcome Home, Hamlet” features the music of Dusty Springfield, Antony and the Johnsons, Pulp, and Irving Berlin performed live by the extraordinary musical cast.
The evening performance at the Opera House will follow a special workshop and presentation for Deer Isle-Stonington High School students on Friday, November 4.
